Contacts

This is a private reference site, not a Benzie County, Michigan, or federal government office. It cannot confirm anyone's custody or release, release a person, post bond, obtain records for a visitor, or pull an official booking file. Contact the government office that holds the record or custody information.

Choose the Correct Benzie Contact

Benzie County does not publish an official current-inmate roster or recent-release feed. A person who leaves the local jail may have returned to the community or may have transferred to MDOC, another county, a federal custodian, or immigration custody. Start with the agency that last held the person. Ask the Benzie County Jail to distinguish release from transfer, then use the court or records office for lasting documentation.

Benzie County Sheriff and Jail

Benzie County Sheriff's Office
Law Enforcement Center
505 S. Michigan Avenue
Beulah, MI 49617
Phone: 231-882-4484
Business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays

Call for immediate county custody information. The published business hours do not establish a release-desk schedule, and no official source gives a public release time.

Sheriff Release and Booking Records

Benzie Sheriff FOIA Coordinator
505 S. Michigan Avenue
Beulah, MI 49617
Email: LEvans@BenzieCo.Gov
Phone: 231-882-4484, extension 231
Fax: 231-882-5814

Use this route for a named booking and release record, release date and time, release disposition, transfer destination if disclosable, bond entry, release form, or booking photograph. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., does not require the county form, but the Sheriff provides one. Most requests use the five-business-day response framework. An extension and lawful fees may apply; no flat Benzie release-record or photo fee is published.

Benzie Court and Probation Contacts

85th District Court
448 Court Place
Beulah, MI 49617
Court phone: 231-882-0019
District probation: 231-882-0858
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding major holidays

The District Court handles misdemeanors and the early stages of felony cases. Its probation line applies to district matters. Felony dispositions and sentences belong to the 19th Judicial Circuit. A docket can explain a bond, dismissal, sentence, or probation order, but the Sheriff record confirms physical release from the jail.

MDOC Benzie Supervision Office

Benzie County Parole and Probation Office
448 Court Place, Courthouse
Beulah, MI 49617
Phone: 231-882-0042

This is the local state contact for MDOC parole and felony probation. It is not the same as 85th District Court probation. Use the Michigan OTIS offender search first for a person under MDOC jurisdiction, then contact the office when the public status or supervising-office information needs clarification.

MDOC Release and Discharge Records

MDOC FOIA Coordinator
P.O. Box 30003
Lansing, MI 48909
Email: MDOC-FOIA@michigan.gov
Phone: 517-335-4194
Fax: 517-335-4193

Request a basic state release, parole, or discharge record and provide the full name, MDOC number, birth date if known, and date range. OTIS does not contain people sentenced only to Benzie County Jail, so county-only records remain with the Sheriff and local court.

MI-VINE Notifications

MI-VINE
Phone: 800-770-7657
TTY: 866-847-1298
Available 24 hours

MI-VINE can provide status and event alerts from MDOC and participating county sources. Current official material does not specifically confirm Benzie County Jail participation. Search the live Michigan system or call before relying on local coverage. Read each notice carefully because a transfer is not the same as community release.

Use the route that matches the question:

BOP and ICE cover their own custody systems only. U.S. Marshals pretrial custody has no comparable public released-person locator. A federal or immigration result should not be used to describe an ordinary Benzie County Jail or MDOC case.
